About me

Hi there, I'm Patrizia Visconti! As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I am passionate about empowering families and kids during meals and to feel confident in their choices. My mission and biggest privilege is to promote mind-body connection and strengthen (sometimes re-establish) our intuitive eating.

Coming from an Italian and Venezuelan background, many family gatherings and events revolved around food preparation and eating. Sometimes, I would reject certain foods or would not eat certain meals. This was unacceptable in my culture. I was labeled a "picky eater". My parents and I were judged and I would frequently eat to avoid labels, people's judgement, and feelings of shame/guilt. Back then, we didn't have the proper tools to navigate these situations.

When I became a mom, I did A LOT of research about nutrition and feeding practices. I wanted to offer my daughter the opportunity to have a healthier relationship with food and herself.

With clients and even with my own daughter,  I've seen firsthand how diet culture and generational trauma can negatively impact one's self-esteem and well-being. That's why I advocate for a holistic approach to eating that promotes body respect and habits that will give YOU and YOUR family all the tools to become Empowered Eaters.

I decided to build this community after learning from my cousin and Eating Disorder specialist: Beatriz Verdi, how much people with eating disorders suffer on a daily basis. I remember asking her about any prevention strategies for these devastating disorders and she mentioned Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size (HAES).  After reading a book about intuitive eating, it all made SO much sense. My mission and purpose became to shed light to these life-changing concepts. I got certified as an Intuitive Eating Counselor and founded Empowered Eaters to share my knowledge and experience with others, while we all build this community together.

I offer individual and group counseling sessions that are tailored to each individual, family and child's unique needs, helping them understand and tune in to their own hunger and fullness cues. Through fun and engaging activities, I also teach children to explore the journey of nurturing their bodies, as well as educating them (+ their families) on the power of autonomy, body diversity, body respect and informed consent with a weight neutral and health at every size approach.

I strongly believe that building a community of Empowered Eaters can be one of the many ways to help prevent a range of behaviors from social marginalization, bullying, body bashing, to mental health conditions such as anxiety to eating disorders.

My ultimate goal is to empower children and their families to become confident, intuitive eaters who feel good about themselves inside and out.

If you're looking for a compassionate and effective approach to helping you or your child develop a lifelong love for  intuitive eating and body respect, I'm here to help!
